Daegu is a city in the heart of Korea in the North Gyeongsang province. It has a lot to offer in terms of flavorful restaurants, pretty cafés, and fun tourist attractions.

Here is a list of some things to do if you find yourself in Daegu, South Korea.

1. Daegu Art Factory

Location: Suchang-dong, Jung-gu

Korean name: 대구예술발전소

This museum features various installations and exhibitions by local artists!

When we visited the theme for the exhibitions seemed to be about the place of technology in the future.

The exhibitions change every so often but I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a chilled indoor activity.

2. Suchang Youth Mansion

Location: Seongnae3(sam)dong, Jung-gu

Korean name: 수창청춘맨숀

This is another exhibition space in Daegu. It is a space for young creatives to collaborate and also to view exhibitions by talented artists.

The building has an industrial aesthetic and the giant LOVE sign makes for a great photozone.

I’d make sure to check if there is an exhibition on before you go. If not, it won’t be much of an experience.

3. Daegu Yangnyeongsi Museum of Oriental Medicine

Location: Seongnae2(i)dong, Jung-gu

Korean name: 악령시한의학문화관

This museum is one of the best places to learn about the usage of oriental medicine throughout history in South Korea.

There is limited information in English but the museum is still an interesting pit stop to make on your itinerary. It has a lot of interactive displays and preserved medicinal extracts too.

4. Daegu National Museum

Location: Hwanggeum-dong, Suseong-gu

Korean name: 국립대구박물관

The Daegu National Museum is a great place to see local exhibitions showcasing Korean culture and history.

They have gorgeous displays and a VR experience which is very interesting.

5. Chilsung Night Market

Location: Chilseong 1(il)ga, Buk-gu

Korean name: 별별상상 칠성야시장

This dual Korean traditional market is the perfect place to shop during the day then head for yummy eats at night (at the underground section).

There’s live music and a killer view of the city over the river.

6. Taewang Sparkland

Location: Downtown Daegu.

Korean name: 태왕 스파크랜드

Sparkland is an amusement park on top of a mall in downtown Daegu.

It’s has a number of rides, bowling alley, arcade, mini skywalk, and a lot of delicious restaurants to check out.

7. Café Repose

Location: Sangin-dong, Dalseo-gu

Korean name: 카페 리포즈

Café Repose is a repurposed house in lesser known street full of yummy restaurants and other cafés.

The café atmosphere is quite cozy and they play really nice music to complete the mood.

Their berry ade and matcha latte were both delicious! Definitely recommend trying it if you stop by!
