Semantic Error was a refreshing twist on the ever-growing BL genre in Korea.
It tells the story of two opposites, a disciplined computer science major and an easygoing designer who end up working together.
Firstly, the enemies to lovers storyline has been done to death. Yet, this drama made it fresh somehow. Maybe it was the way that their acting came across, or the way in which the script was written. Whatever it is, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

DKZ Jae Chan‘s acting was very convincing. He pulled off the shy stand-offish role quite well. I loved that even when he was falling for Jang Jae Young, he managed to keep his personality in tact. He executed his character’s arc quite well.

Park Seo Ham was so charismatic on screen. The character suited him perfectly and honestly anyone who was watching would find themselves falling for him. Besides the drama, I discovered a lot more about Park Seo Ham out of curiosity. His YouTube channel proves that he is especially endearing even offscreen.
The drama felt a little bit rushed as if it should’ve had more episodes to explore more storylines, but that might just be because it felt so good to watch. The drama was entertaining, cute, and quirky.

The ‘error’ motif was especially well-thought, present in tiny details throughout the drama. I also enjoyed how progressive it was. As it was well executed, it was also well-received by Korean audiences; which is quite impressive to achieve in a mostly conservative society that is still new to BL dramas.
