Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is one of the starter pack K-Dramas that seems like a rite of passage to every K-Drama lover. Not only is it a staple to watch when you’re just getting into the umbrella genre, but it is a classic thanks to its feel-good and humorous nature. Accordingly, when it’s spin-off Strong Girl Nam Soon was announced, fans were filled with anticipation and expectation.
Well, it’s safe to say that expectations have been met and are likely to be exceeded. A few episodes into the drama and it is already a hit.
Let’s take a look at 5 of the funniest moments from Strong Girl Nam Soon so far that had us rolling with laughter.
1. Granny in police station
The scene of Gil Joong Gan (played by Kim Hae Sook) is as a amusing shock to the system. Her foul-mouthed and unashamed ego in the face of a man whose imported car she flipped over is the comedy that we’ve been looking for in K-Drama offerings this year and she sure delivered.
2. Do Bong Soon cameo
Of course, we can’t forget to mention the Do Bong Soon cameo featuring Park Bo Young and Park Hyung Sik. In fact, as great as this spin-off was, we’re pretty sure that a lot of fans were hoping for a sequel after seeing this duo on screen again. Their chemistry was off the charts as always. Whilst the scene was funny and cute and cringey; all at the same time and in the best way.
3. Sugar mommy scene
Next up was the scene where Kang Hee Sik’s mom (played by Jeon Soo Kyung) stops by his apartment and finds Hwang Geum Ju (played by Kim Jung Eun) there with him. She immediately mistakes him as her sugar baby – considering that they are standing in what can be misconstrued to be an intimate position and the entire situation is laughable. Of course, she looks gorgeous enough for the situation to be possible but it’s still so ridiculous that you can’t help but laugh.
4. Kang Nam Soon dishing it back to the restaurant owner
Justice is a dish best served cold in this scene where Nam Soon gets back at a rude customer (a restaurant owner) after his power trip. Not only did she prove a point, flawing his ‘the customer is king’ philosophy, but his reaction to the whole thing was hilarious.
5. Ghost costume
On another ridiculous note, Nam Soon’s ghost costume was just straight silly. The whole scene where she penetrates Si O’s office was slapstick comedy-esque, making you laugh at the lack of rhyme or reason. Apparently subtlety is the one weak thing characteristic she has.
