Bali, Indonesia, is known as one of the most whimsical and exotic healing travel destinations out there. Many people who are looking for an Eat, Pray, Love moment would have Bali high on their travel bucket lists, and rightfully so.
Indonesia is one of the most breathtaking countries with gorgeous landscapes as far as the eye can see. As such, it’s only natural to want to capture the memories created there through beautiful and aesthetic photos. Let’s get into how you can achieve that by visiting some of Bali’s most Instagram-worthy places in this blog!
Whether you are traveling as a group or alone, you can get truly captivating pictures and memories that will last a lifetime in Bali. There is an array of unique things to do in Bali and the island is known for being a cheap travel destination which is a bonus, too. The Balinese are very aware of their country’s beautiful appeal, too. Even if you’re a solo traveler, you never have to worry about capturing the perfect image because even if you don’t have a tour guide, there are locals stationed at almost every photo zone to capture your perfect shot.
I personally went the tour guide route during my solo travel in Bali. So, I will tell you a little bit about that experience, too.

Bali Instagram Highlights Tour – GetYourGuide Mini Review
The tour name is Bali: Instagram Highlights Tour on the GetYourGuide website and you can book it for yourself by clicking the link!
One of the best things about GetYourGuide is that they have tour guides who are fluent in several languages so if you don’t speak English or the local language, you don’t have to worry too much. Their tour guides speak Chinese, Russian, French, and many more. My tour guide was Joni and he did a stellar job showing me around – he’s fluent in both English and Korean.
If you’re a solo traveler then I highly recommend going on this tour to get in those pictures that are almost impossible to set-up and take by yourself. You will also get to experience Bali (albeit the tourist destinations) from a Balinese perspective as the tour guides are locals themselves.

Back to the Instagrammable photo spots in Bali themselves!
1. Lempuyang Temple

Lempuyang Temple is one of the most iconic Instagrammable spots in Bali and also happens to be one of Bali’s oldest temples.
Be warned, this temple is up quite a steep and big hill. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
When you walk into the temple area, you will be given a stamp and a number. The number is for a queuing system and is to let you know when you can take your photo in front of Heaven’s Gate (the famous magical photo spot). There will also be someone there with holy water who will bless you upon entry.
For the sake of maintaining the fantasy, I won’t get into the details on just how they achieve the pool of water look in the photo – but spoiler alert, it is indeed a fantasy.
Whether you travel during a peak tourist season or not, there will likely be a lot of people there, so be sure to get there early! For context, I arrived at 7 AM but was still number 83 in the queue. The queuing time can be quite long – so keep this in mind if you have other things planned on your itinerary. I waited for about 2 and a half hours. Use this time to think of the poses you want to do as the photo time is quite short and you can only do about 3-4 poses.
At the same temple, there are also other places where you can take photos with a volcano in the background for a small donation fee. Here, if you don’t have a guide, don’t worry as there are temple employees to take your picture for you.

Many people overlook the staircase in front of the temple, but this is also quite a beautiful spot to get your picture taken while you wait!
Rules when visiting Lempuyang Temple:
- Be aware that the temple, as pretty as it is, is still in use as a place of worship. So, tourists can’t enter the main area unless they are going to pray.
- Taking photos in the main temple area is prohibited.
- Ladies, if you want to pray in the temple, you unfortunately can’t enter if you are on your period.
- You need to wear a sarong – you can buy one from the many stalls at the market on the way up to the temple.
- You can’t show your shoulders or your back – they need to be covered at all times.
2. Tirta Gangga

Tirta Gangga is a former royal palace that is known for its famous water gardens filled with koi fish. This is another Instagrammable spot that you simply can’t miss out on in Bali.
Pro tip: Buy some fish food when you arrive to feed the fish so that you can have more of them surrounding you in your picture!
3. Jungle Swing

There are many jungle swings throughout Bali. So, you can find one nearest to your other activities or go to a specific one that you like.
Some of them only offer the swing service but others offer you to rent a dress to create the perfect picture or even have other photozones besides the swing such as a hammock. Shop around for the best one that suits your preferences, but they are all stunning and quite the adrenaline rush!
4. Rice terraces

Again, there are so many beautiful rice terraces all over Bali. If you have the luxury of being able to, make sure to stop at any time and take a picture with them as a beautiful background!
These have been 4 must-see Instagram-worthy photo spots in Bali!
